Committee seeks embassy’s support on Nigerian-German cultural expo

The 2024 Nigerian-German Investment and Cultural Expo (NGICE) Organising Committee has sought the support of the German embassy in Nigeria to ensure success of the upcoming expo scheduled to be held in Berlin, Germany from Nov. 26 to 30.

The committee made call in a statement jointly signed by the NGICE Organising Committee Chairman and Vice Chairman, Dr Mike Okiro and Hon. Kaulaha Aliyu respectively.

The theme of the expo is “Unlocking Nigeria’s Investment Potentials for Industrial Revolution” and sub-theme – “Cultural Export: Key Opportunities for Foreign Direct Investment”.

The D-G, who represented the former Inspector-General of Police, Okiro and first Republic Parliamentarian, Aliyu, said the purpose of the visit was to request the support of the German mission in Nigeria to ensure the success of the expo.

Ojirika popularly known as Chiboy The Black Courage and Nigerian Music Ambassador to Germany said that the expo would showcase the enormous investment opportunities in Nigeria to Germany.

He added that it would boost multi-agency and private sector efforts aimed at improving foreign direct investments, thereby complementing President Bola Tinubu’s determination to diversify and rebuild the Nigeria economy.

“The upcoming expo will showcase our culture as a good promotional tool in advancing international relations, through cultural exchange between Nigeria and Germany.

“The expo will also focus on power, renewable energy, mining, oil & gas, agro-allied, automotive, ICT, marine business, security management, housing development, creative/entertainment industry, transportation etc.

“The participants expected at the expo include: German investors, captains of commerce and industry, State Governors, foreign and local investors, ministers and high-ranking government officers, Chief Executives of Agencies as well as stakeholders from the organised private sector.”

Ojirika recalled that on October, 29th – 30th 2023, the German Chancellor,
Olaf Scholz, led a large delegation, private business and culture to
visit President Bola Tinubu to deepen ties with Nigeria.

He added that the chancellor called for potential cooperation between the two nations on energy as Germany looked to diversify its sources of natural gas.

The D-G said the upcoming expo would further consolidate the visit of the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to President Bola Tinubu towards the promotion of German-Nigerian economic cooperation and bilateral relationships.
