Abuja (Flowerbudnews): Policemen have appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently intervene in the planned reconstruction of Police Barracks in Abuja under alleged public-private partnership scheme.
Flowerbudnews investigations revealed that majority of the Policemen to be affected are already gripped with the ‘fear of dislocation and disruption of their lives if the barrack re-newal plans were executed without adequate provision of alternatives for them.
All the Policemen who spoke with Flowerbudnews on condition of anonymity, appeared seriously disturbed by ” the fear of the unknown,” as one of them put it.
They claimed that ‘:so far, no clear cut soft-landing plans” have been unfolded to give them hope that they would not suffer unduly.
”The plan of demolishing present police homes to allegedly built better structures sounds nice, but what of the consequential negative effects on the lawful occupants of the structures who would be displaced,” one policeman told Flowerbudnews.
Another police officer claimed that ‘:most of the police barracks have been sold with policemen already being chased out with notifications across all states under the guise of PPP”.
Most of the Policemen were of the opinion that, ”for the purpose of accountability why do not the authorities do PPP by acquiring new plots or properties,”.
”This is really painful,” one policeman told Flowerbudnews, appealing: ”President Tinubu should help us by intervening to ensure that we (policemen) do not suffer unduly with the planned barracks reconstruction’:.
They claimed that some police quarters were already affected, saying; ‘:GARKI and city gate barracks are now on the line”.
The Policemen stated that, if the government allowed the barracks to be taken away, ‘poor police constable, etc with their little salary can not afford decent accomodations outside barrack.’: they pleaded.
All those who spoke to Flowerbudnews appealed for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ‘s urgent intervention to safe them from the impending dislocation and disruption of their lives.
Some of them alleged that the PPP scheme was a guise by some ”faceless rich Nigerians,” to get richer at the expense of the officers and men of the nation’s police force.
Flowerbudnews efforts to get comments from the relevant police authorities proved abortive as messages sent were not responded to for over one week before publicatiopolicemenn. (Flowerbudnews)
