Police operatives in Anambra State on Wednesday at upper Iweka, Onitsha nabbed an armed robbery suspect in a commercial bus en route to Onitsha.
The suspect, Sunday Onyema, 35year-old was arrested by Operation Puff-Adder operatives in conjunction with patrol team attached to operation kpochapu while on stop and search duty in the area.
A statement made available to journalists by the state police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Haruna Mohammed, said that the bus with REG No. UKP108ZU in which the suspect was apprehended was heading to the commercial city from Asaba.
The statement reads in part, “After a thorough search, the team recovered a Police Beretta pistol with breech number AO-4909Z loaded with seven rounds of life ammunition, one expanded ammunition and six different handsets in possession of one Sunday Onyema ‘m’ aged 35 years of Orlu in Imo State.”
Mohammed said the suspect was assisting the Police with useful information to aid investigation after which he would be charged to court for prosecution.
