In August 2025, ETH Enugu 2025 marked a defining turning point for Web3 in Sub-Saharan Africa by hosting Nigeria’s first-ever Ethereum conference. Fast-forward to September 2026: that initial spark officially evolved into a massive, interconnected ecosystem—this time bringing gaming and esports directly into the spotlight.
Driven by a core philosophy—that talent is evenly distributed across Africa, but access is not—the mission began with a simple question: How do we bring world-class opportunities directly to where young Africans live, study, and build, rather than waiting for them to find a way out?
The sheer scale of Southeast Blockchain & Games Week 2026 (SEBGW2026) bore witness to this vision. Co-convened by Kevin Chibuoyim Okoye (Ezemmuo Blockchain), Leslie Osinachi-Okoh (Darknight), and Emmanuel Ifeanacho (Silver Snow), the gathering drew international participants flying in from the United Kingdom, alongside over 1,500 innovators traveling from major Nigerian hubs like Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Delta, all five southeastern states, and across the African continent.
Supported by global corporate titans—including MTN Nigeria, itel Nigeria, and Guinness Nigeria Plc—alongside official government agency alignment through entities like the Enugu State SME Agency, the SEBGW2026 movement set a powerful precedent.
A Historic First: Bridging Blockchain & Gaming across Africa
Southeast Blockchain & Games Week 2026 marked the first time in Africa that blockchain and gaming were fused into a single, unified experience. By bridging two of the fastest-growing sectors in the digital economy, the event proved that Web3 protocols and gaming cultures are deeply interconnected engines for youth employment, digital ownership, and creative expression.
In a headline partnership with MTN Nigeria and The Block Hive, all participants across all 16 build stations and the grand finale were gifted 4G/5G MTN Internet Routers (valued between ₦20,000 and ₦60,000 each) for FREE. Additionally, itel Nigeria presented their flagship smartphones and cash rewards in collaboration with Afropanda Esports to outstanding participants and competitive gamers for the E-football tournament.
What started as a state-wide blueprint in Enugu in 2025 has now scaled to a multi-region movement, laying the groundwork for a global pan-African footprint.

Decentralizing the Movement: 16 Build Stations Across 8 States
To operationalize this vision from September 16–18, SEBGW2026 bypassed traditional centralized models. Instead of requiring thousands of participants to travel long distances, organizers activated 16 Build Stations across 16 partner hubs in 8 states across Nigeria, with each hub engaging between 50 to 100 builders, developers, and gamers daily:
-
Anambra State Build stations: Activ8 Hub (Awka), ICE Hub Africa (Nnewi), and IFEXA Grid (Onitsha).
-
Enugu State Build stations: The Block Hive (Nsukka), Block Hub Africa (Enugu Town), and Enugu SME Agency’s Digital Skills and Enhancement Zone – DSEZ (Enugu Town).
-
Ebonyi State Build stations: Spella Hub (Abakaliki) and One Youth Global (EBSU Campus).
-
Abia State Build stations: Abia Tech Hub (Umuahia) and RAD5 Tech Hub (Aba).

Grand Finale: Keynote Insights, Panels & Product Spotlights

Celebrating the Engines Behind the Movement
Executing a multi-state activation of this scale required round-the-clock coordination from an internal core team and an army of dedicated volunteers.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing body, Kevin Chibuoyim Okoye (Ezemmuo Blockchain) highlighted the collective effort driving the event:
“An event of this scale is never a one-person show—it is the result of relentless dedication from an incredible community. I want to deeply appreciate my co-conveners, Leslie Osinachi-okoh (Darknight) and Silver Snow (Emmanuel Ifeanacho), whose operational leadership kept our momentum strong.
Massive gratitude goes to our Volunteer Lead, Marietta, who spearheaded an unprecedented logistical feat. Coordinating over 160 volunteers across 16 build stations—maintaining at least 10 dedicated volunteers per station—plus an additional 50+ volunteers on the main event day in Enugu was no small task. Day and night, they sacrificed their time and energy to ensure seamless operations.
Equal appreciation goes to our internal powerhouse—our graphic designers, social media managers, video editors, media production crews, content creators, and administrative teams. They built the visual identity, captured the story, and ensured our vision reached the world. This triumph belongs to all of us.”
The Next Frontier: Blockchain, AI & Games across Africa
Reflecting on the journey from a local pilot to an 8-state, multi-region tour, lead convener Kevin Chibuoyim shared the vision for the next chapter:
“When we organized the ETH Enugu Pop-up City and Ethereum Conference in 2025, our goal was to show what happens when you empower local talent. Now, with Southeast Blockchain & Games Week 2026, we proved that decentralized execution works across entire regions. By taking build stations directly into 8 states, we proved that distance is no longer a barrier to participating in the global digital economy.
Having tested and perfected this multi-hub model in Nigeria, we are taking the next logical step. Moving forward into next year, we hope to evolve and do this on a bigger scale— Africa wide – bringing Web3, AI, and Gaming into the continent’s premier frontier technology gathering- bringing Web3, Artificial Intelligence, and Gaming together”
