The Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) has called for urgent security intervention following the killing of an 18-year-old vigilante member, Divine Dung Davou, in Rachas Village, Heipang District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The association, led by its President, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, said in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong, that the victim was killed at about 12:23 a.m. during a midnight attack.

BYM alleged that the attack was carried out by armed Fulani assailants, a claim that has not been independently verified.

The association said the killing had thrown the victim’s family and community into mourning, while raising concerns about the safety of residents in rural communities.

It called on the Plateau State Police Command and other security agencies to investigate the incident, identify and apprehend those responsible, and strengthen patrols, intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms in vulnerable communities.

BYM also urged the Plateau State and Federal Governments to implement sustained measures to protect lives and property in communities repeatedly exposed to attacks.

The association expressed condolences to the bereaved family and residents of Rachas Village, while appealing for urgent action to prevent further loss of lives.

Zagazola note: The incident appears to concern the same killing earlier reported in Tartu Village, Heipang District, involving 19-year-old Divine Dung. The victim’s age, full name and exact location differ between the accounts and should be reconciled with the family or police before publication.
