AXA Mansard Health wins HMO of the Year award

Lagos, Sept. 9, 2026, AXA Mansard Health has been named Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) of the Year by Afriglobal Medicare Ltd., for its contribution to healthcare delivery and service excellence.
The award, presented by the West African healthcare brand, also recognised the company’s innovation and efforts to improve customer experience in Nigeria’s health insurance sector.
Afriglobal Medicare, an ISO-certified healthcare service provider and diagnostic centre, said the recognition reflected AXA Mansard Health’s leadership in delivering healthcare solutions.
Th Chief Executive Officer, AXA Mansard Health, Dr Tope Adeniyi, said the award was significant to the company’s employees, customers and communities that relied on its services.
Adeniyi said the recognition would encourage employees to sustain high standards of service and remain committed to delivering on the company’s promises to customers.
He said greater emphasis should be placed on healthcare planning, financing and disease prevention rather than relying largely on reactive treatment.
Adeniyi said that the award comes amid efforts by stakeholders to expand health insurance coverage and improve access to affordable healthcare in Nigeria.
“Recent data from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) showed that about 22 million Nigerians are cover by health insurance, representing an increase of about six million from 2023.
“The NHIA data also indicates that more than N70 billion have been channelled into the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to strengthen frontline healthcare delivery and improve access for vulnerable Nigerians,”Adeniyi said.
Industry observers say the expansion of health insurance coverage presents opportunities for HMOs and insurers, while increasing pressure on operators to improve service delivery, claims management and healthcare provider networks.
Adebola Surakat, Chief Marketing Officer, AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, said the award would challenge the company to sustain high standards.
