Abuja (Flowerbudnews): The Federal College of Education, Iwo, Osun State literally stole the show and became the cynosure at the colourful 2024
Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) Teachers’ Day Celebration on Friday, October 5, in Abuja.

FCE Iwo was celebrated by dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, who was the Special Guest, for producing one of its students, Mubarak Latona, as the Overall Best Student of all the Colleges of Education in Nigeria.

As a mark of recognition for the College, FCE Iwo, the Minister, Dr. Sununu, personally presented the Overall Best Student Award to Mubarak Latona.

To add more glamour, the Minister also took personal photograph with the outstanding boy, his parents, Haj and Hajia AbdulWaheed Latona and the visibly happy Provost of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, Prof. Rafiu Adebayo.
The Provost, Prof. Rafiu Adebayo commended Mubarak Latona for making the Institution proud. He congratulated Haj Latona and his wife for Mubarak’s success.
It is also noteworthy that Prof Adebayo is currently the Chairman of the Committee of Federal Provosts (COFEP,).
Flowerbudnews reports that COEASU also bestowed Scholarship Awards on five other Zonal Best Students from the nation’s Colleges of education as part of the activities to mark 2024 International Teachers Day.
Other five Best Zonal students are; Miss Nusaiba Awwal Barau from Saadatu Rimi College of Education (COE), Kumbostso, for North West Zone, Miss Nwachukwu Chioma Ruth, COE, Akwanga, Nasarawa state for North Central Zone and Nwoha Johnson Obinna, COE Ihite Iboma, for South East Zone.
Others are Mal. Musa AbduLLAH Musa, COE Azare for North East Zone and Miss Ezeanofu Chisom Miracle FCE (T), Asaba for South South Zone.
The event was attended by many dignitaries from the Education and labour sectors, including the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), JAMB Registrar, Prof. Isiaq Oloyede, TETFUND Executive Secretary m, Arc Sonny Echono among others. (Flowerbudnews)
