A 19-year-old boy, identified as Divine Dung, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Tartu Village, Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 8:32 a.m. on November 3, 2026, when troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), received a report of the attack.
The sources said troops immediately mobilised to the scene, where they discovered the victim’s lifeless body bearing gunshot wounds.
The corpse was subsequently recovered by the victim’s relatives for burial.
Meanwhile, troops have commenced a manhunt for the unidentified gunmen, while efforts are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The incident is the latest security concern in Barkin Ladi, where security agencies continue to sustain operations to protect residents and prevent further attacks.
