The Muslim Community of Oyo State (MUSCOYS) has honoured the Former and Pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, FNSE, with an Award of Commendation for his outstanding contributions to educational development, institutional leadership and community service.
The prestigious honour was presented to Dr. Abdul-Hameed during the General Assembly and Transition Programme of MUSCOYS held on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The recognition celebrates Dr. Abdul-Hameed’s distinguished career as an educationist, professional engineer and institutional builder, particularly his pioneering role in steering the Federal Polytechnic Ayede through its formative years and laying a strong foundation for its growth and development.
As the institution’s Pioneer Rector, Dr. Abdul-Hameed provided leadership at a defining period in the Polytechnic’s history, overseeing critical administrative, academic and infrastructural processes required to establish a new federal tertiary institution.
Among the notable milestones associated with his pioneering administration were the establishment and strengthening of the Polytechnic’s foundational academic and administrative structures, the development of critical institutional infrastructure and facilities, and the advancement of the institution’s visibility and stakeholder relationships within its host communities and beyond.
Through his leadership, the young institution was positioned for sustainable growth, with emphasis on academic development, professionalism, discipline, institutional governance and the creation of an environment capable of supporting teaching, learning and human-capital development.
The award therefore represents more than a ceremonial honour, as it underscores the enduring value of Dr. Abdul-Hameed’s pioneering contributions to the development of Federal Polytechnic Ayede and the broader tertiary education landscape.
Commenting on the recognition, Malam Ibrahim Agunbiade, a member of Rabwah Islamic Propagation based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, described the honour as a fitting tribute to a man whose career has been defined by excellence, selfless service and intellectual commitment.
