The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) has extolled the sterling qualities and impeccable integrity of former governor of Anambra and Labour Party Presidential Candidate during 2023 Presidential Election, Mr Peter Obi, as he clocks 63.
The Chairman of CLO, Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme, gave the commendation on Friday in Enugu while also speaking to newsmen on Obi’s deep patriotism and love to see Nigeria make huge progress and be respected international.
Ezekwueme noted that Obi remained an epitome of New Hope of envisaged Nigerian politician that had the character, competence, capacity and conscience to enthroned a New Nigeria of our dreams, hopes and aspirations.
According to him, his (Obi) general acceptance during last year presidential election is an indication that Nigerians appreciate his politics of morality, patriotism, peacefulness, simplicity, transformational, prudent, selflessness and judicious use of public funds for public good.
“It is on record that he is the only politician that left homongus fund in government coffers while leaving office. He has not collected his entitled pensions and gratuity since he left office.
“It is of prime importance to note that since he left office, he gives grants to schools, hospitals, youths and health institutions in all sections of the country and contributes immensely towards poverty reduction and eradication.
“As you mark your birthday today; may Almighty God give you more wisdom, grace, protection, good health and wealth as you continue to serve God and humanity.
“His believe in the wise assertion of John Holmes that”the only good motive in life is the motive of doing good for ones country and her citizens singled him out as rare and unique gift to humanity,” he said.
The CLO boss, however, appealed to the political class and Nigerians to emulate Obi sterling qualities of being God fearing, humble and honest lifestyle in order “to make our good better and our better best to the glory of God.”
“CLO wishes His Excellency, Mr Peter Obi, more fruitful, peaceful, prosperous, progressive and healthy years ahead beyond measures, Amen,” he added.
