The University of Calabar has directed all Heads of Colleges, Schools, Institutes, Faculties, Departments and Units to submit comprehensive details of all non-current assets (fixed assets) received, purchased or otherwise acquired by their respective offices from 2021 to date.

The directive, contained in an internal memo dated November 4, 2026, and issued by the Office of the Bursar through the Non-Current Assets Unit, is aimed at facilitating the compilation, reconciliation and updating of the University’s Non-Current Assets Register, a statement by the University’s Public Relations Unit has disclosed.

According to the memo, the exercise is being carried out in response to the recommendations arising from the System Review Audit conducted by the Audit Committee of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The University explained that the exercise forms part of its commitment to strengthening internal controls, promoting accountability and ensuring the maintenance of accurate records of its assets.

Consequently, all affected Heads of Departments and Units are required to provide the requested information strictly in the prescribed format attached to the memorandum. The submissions are to be made in both soft and hard copies to the Non-Current Assets Unit, Bursary Department, on or before Monday, November 30, 2026.

The exercise is expected to enhance the proper identification and numbering of University assets while strengthening the overall management, monitoring and accountability of institutional property in line with applicable Financial Regulations and accounting standards.

All Heads of Departments and Units have therefore been urged to treat the directive as urgent and mandatory, ensuring that the information provided is complete, accurate and comprehensive.

The memo was signed by the Chief Accountant and Head of the Non-Current Assets Unit, Mr. Egbanabo Victor Ije, CNA, for the Bursar.
