Enugu: CSDA Commissions Ikem Water Project Under NG-CARES 2.0 within three-Weeks of Gov. Mbah’s Promise

……As Isi-Uzo Chairman, House Member, Ikem People Call Gov Mbah a Promise Keeper.

Barely three weeks after the people of Ebia in Ikem Community in Isi-Uzo LGA in Enugu State were promised potable water by Gov. Peter Mbah, the state government has constructed a mega water project through water harvesting, anchored with treatment plant and all water provision facilities for the people of Ebia.

Commissioning the project at the weekend in the community, the General Manager of Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, noted that the agency team swung into action with relentless speed and executed the project within record time.

Ani said that the milestone was a striking demonstration of how community-driven development could swiftly transform identified needs into tangible benefits, “bringing relief and renewed hope” to rural residents.

“The timely delivery of the project reflects the responsive leadership and development commitment of His Excellence, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose prompt response through the provision of the project budget envelope facilitated its execution within a remarkably short period.

“The intervention is expected to significantly improve access to clean and potable water.

“The intervention will reduce the daily burden of searching for water, promote improved hygiene and sanitation, and protect residents, particularly women, children and vulnerable groups, from water-related health challenges,” he said.

The managing director said that the successful completion of the project also highlighted the dedication and commitment of the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC).

According to him, the CPMC cooperation, sense of ownership and active participation contributed to translating the community’s identified priority into reality within a short time.

“The CPMC efforts reinforce the importance of community participation, transparency, accountability and collective responsibility in ensuring that development interventions are properly executed and sustained for the benefit of all,” he said.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Hon. Brendan Emeka Ani; appreciated Gov. Mbah for the timely intervention and coming to the rescue of the people.

“We are grateful to His Excellence, Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for this people-oriented project. As a people, we are assuring Gov. Mbah of 100 per cent support for his reelection and developmental programmes,” the chairman said.

The commissioning ceremony also attracted an impressive gathering of dignitaries and stakeholders, including the Member Representing Isi-Uzo State Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon Gabriel Eze; Hon Azubuike Onah; Igwe Felix Ogbuke of Ikem Community, the President-General of Ikem Community, Women, Men, Youth and Children of Ikem community.

They all expressed joy and happiness over the project, eulogizing the governor and referring to Him as “a Promise Keeping Governor”.

They revealed that for decades the Ikem community had suffered water scarcity but this water intervention has ended their suffering and brought succour to them.

The large presence of dignitaries added colour and significance to the occasion, reflecting the collective support of political leaders, traditional institutions and community stakeholders for grassroots development.

The commissioning stands as another testament to Gov. Mbah’s commitment to bringing essential amenities closer to the people through CSDA, demonstrating that when government responds promptly and communities take ownership, meaningful development becomes a reality within months.
