2027: Iba of Kishi Throws Support Behind Peller

The Iba of Kishi, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Moshood Oyekola Aweda Lawal, Arowoduye II, has endorsed the senatorial ambition of Hon. Shina Peller, the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
The monarch gave his endorsement on Friday when Peller, accompanied by members of the party, supporters and his mother, Alhaja Silifat Abeo Abiola Peller, visited his palace in Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The visit also had a familial significance for Peller, as his mother is a daughter of Kishi.
Alhaja Peller, popularly known as Lady Peller, was born to the late Alhaji Soliu Ali, a prominent Islamic scholar who served as one of the Chief Imams of Kishi.
The monarch welcomed Peller to the palace and offered prayers for his success in the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the visit, Peller said his background and experience placed him in a position to effectively represent the diverse interests of the Oyo North Senatorial District.
He said his father was from the Oke-Ogun I axis, while his mother was from Oke-Ogun II, Kishi, adding that he obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the Ogbomoso axis.
Peller also stressed the need for experienced representation to effectively manage the interests of the 13 local government areas that make up the senatorial district.
He said his legislative experience would enable him to contribute effectively to lawmaking and attract democratic dividends to the district if elected to the 11th National Assembly.
The APM candidate said his campaign was anchored on his connections to the three major geographical blocs of Oyo North, as well as his understanding of the legislative process.
The 2027 senatorial contest is expected to feature candidates from various political parties seeking to represent the district at the National Assembly.
