CSDA Takes Sensitisation, PRA To 6 Enugu LG Communities, To Support Micro Businesses
The Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) has taken community sensitisation and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) exercise on community intervention projects to six communities in Nkanu West Local Government Area.
The six communities in Nkanu West Local Government Area, which the sensitisation took place included: Enuagu Amurri, Umueze Awkunanaw, Omuoha Obuoffia, Enuagu Akpugo, Eziokwe Amurri and Umueze Awkunanaw.
Speaking at Omuoha Obuoffia community on Friday, the General Manager of CSDA, Chief Monday Ani, said that the sensitisation was part of efforts to document beneficiary communities and promote active community participation in identifying and prioritising communities’ developmental needs.
Ani explained that the programme would also provide opportunities for beneficiaries to be given livelihood support for micro businesses.
He said that Gov. Peter Mbah had been very intentional about developing rural communities.
The CSDA boss noted that the governor aimed at giving prompt interventions with projects that are seen as the most needed by the people in the 2.0 of the
Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) programme.
Ani further charged members of the Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) to remain transparent, committed and accountable in carrying out the responsibilities entrusted to them by their communities.
He noted that community development required people who are genuinely committed to humanitarian service and had the interest of vulnerable members and the wider society at heart.
Responding, a former Member House of Representatives, Chief Uchenna Igwesi, said that the community had maintained a cooperative relationship with CSDA over the years.
Igwesi, who received the CSDA team along side with the Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe Obiora Igwesi, other community members, stressed that the Agency’s interventions in the community did not start today.
At Enuagu Amurri community, the traditional ruler, Igwe Charles Nwoye, received the CSDA team and acknowledged the Agency’s community-driven approach to rural development.
Nwoye also appreciated the state government for its continued attention to grassroots development.
In Umueze Community, the Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe Emeka Ani, expressed happiness with Gov. Mbah and his outstanding administrative performances in the state.
Ani appreciated the governor for remembering his community in his administration.
In the same vein, the Traditional Ruler of Enuagu Akpugo Community, Igwe Ikechukwu Nnaji, thanked Gov. Mbah for coming to their aide by bringing Water Project to them after almost 30 years of wait for government presence.
The exercises in various communities, led the CSDA team to interface with members of the communities on discussions and activities aimed at identifying their needs, challenges, development priorities and putting community development committees.
The engagement also featured elections and inauguration of Community Projects Management Committee (CPMC) in the newly identified communities.
