Calabar (FLOWERBUDNEWS): Two students of the Department of Pharmacology of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) have been suspended by the institution for their involvement in examination misconduct during the 2025/2026 session.
The Senate of the University approved that the students be suspended for one-academic-session, a statement by the University’s Public Relations Unit has disclosed.
The statement disclosed that the decision was taken at the University’s 257th Senate meeting held on 23rd July, 2026 at the Senate Chamber.
According to the statement, a memo signed by the Registrar, Dr. Mrs.Chukwuka Icha, the Senate adopted the recommendations of the Senate Examination Misconduct Committee.
The Committee found Egbo Juliet Nmesoma and Enagu Derek Reseokim guilty of being caught with “extraordinary materials” during the PHM 441: Experimental Pharmacology examination written on 16th February, 2026.
The memo stated; ”the affected students are hereby suspended from the University of Calabar for one academic session with effect from the 2026/2027 session.
Consequently, the result of PHM 441: Experimental Pharmacology written by the students has been cancelled.
The two students are expected to resume studies in the 2027/2028 academic session.
All relevant departments, faculties, and units are directed to comply with this directive accordingly.” (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
