NAFDAC Deepens Collaboration with Medipool to Further Combat substandard and fake Drugs Circulation

Lagos: Flowerbudnews: The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified collaboration with Medipool to further enhance the efforts to ensure that only safety and quality medicines are on sale in Nigeria.

Medipool is a healthcare group purchasing organisation approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria. It works with State Drug Management Agencies to facilitate the procurement and logistical distribution of pharmaceuticals to healthcare facilities.

Speaking during the visit of Medipool Management team to NAFDAC Operational Headquarters in Lagos, NAFDAC Director General Prof Mojisola Adeyeye noted that the visit provided ample opportunity to discuss pathways for strengthening and improving pharmaceutical procurement, storage and distribution in Nigeria..

Prof. Adeyeye noted that the engagement was in line with NAFDAC’s mandate to ensure the safety and quality of medicines and supports ongoing efforts to address the challenges posed by open and informal drug markets.

The NAFDAC Director General also stressed that engagement with Medipool also formed part of broader measures to strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain and combat the circulation of substandard and falsified medicines in Nigeria. (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
