Today, the academic and communication community celebrates not merely another birthday, but another remarkable milestone in the life of Professor Omowale Taofeek Adelabu, a distinguished Professor of Mass Communication, accomplished communication scholar, Public Relations wizard, media guru, teacher, father and an exceptional mentor.
As the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, Prof. Adelabu continues to distinguish himself through intellectual excellence, visionary leadership and an enduring commitment to developing minds and advancing the frontiers of communication scholarship.
Since joining Redeemer’s University in September 2005, after an earlier teaching experience at Wolex Polytechnic, Lagos, Prof. Adelabu has built a career defined by scholarship, service and impact. His progression from Associate Professor in 2021 to the rank of Professor, following the approval of the University Council in August 2025, is a testament to years of sustained academic excellence, research productivity and professional dedication.
Beyond the titles and accomplishments, however, lies a man whose greatest influence is often felt in the lives he touches.
He teaches beyond the classroom. He mentors beyond the office. He communicates beyond words.
With deep expertise spanning communication and media studies, advertising and digital communication, Prof. Adelabu has contributed meaningfully to scholarship through research publications and intellectual engagements addressing contemporary issues in the Nigerian media landscape, smartphone communication patterns among students and evolving media theories.
His professional identity is equally remarkable. As a Public Relations practitioner at heart, media guru and communication expert per excellence, he understands the power of strategic communication not simply to disseminate information, but to build trust, shape perceptions, strengthen institutions and connect people.
As a father, he embodies responsibility.
As a teacher, he inspires knowledge.
As a mentor, he nurtures potential.
As a scholar, he pursues truth.
As a communicator, he gives meaning to messages.
And as a leader, he leaves footprints worthy of following.
Prof. Adelabu represents that rare blend of knowledge, experience, humanity and influence—a personality whose academic achievements are matched by his capacity to inspire those around him.
