MainPower carries out repairs, announces planned power outage in parts of Enugu

The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) says there will be a planned power outage in some parts of Enugu metropolis to enable its engineers carry out major repairs.

The Head, Communications of MEDL, Mr Emeka Ezeh, in a statement on Sunday in Enugu, said that the power outage had been scheduled to take place on May 10 from 8a.m to 6p.m.

Ezeh noted that the planned power outage is to provide a safe working environment for engineers to conclude work on the reconstructed Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 towers.

He said that the engineers would also carry out the restringing of wires.

He said that as a result, power supply to the following 33KV lines would be temporarily disrupted: Trans Ekulu, Thinkers Corner, Ituku Ozalla, and Ugwogo.

“Consequently, customers residing in Trans-Ekulu, Emene, Thinkers Corner, Emenite, Airport, Alo Aluminium, Akpuoga, Nkwubor, Ugwuomu, Abakpa-Nike, Nike-Lake, Ugwogo, and surrounding areas served by affected 33KV lines will be without electricity supply during the period.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this may cause our esteemed customers.

“We also appeal for their understanding and cooperation, especially some customers served by Emene Industrial Lines 1 and 2 who have been without supply for some days,” he said.

The spokesman said that power supply would be restored immediately after the completion of the exercise.
