Why prolonged power outage in Oji River, environs – MainPower DisCo
The MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited (MEDL) says prolonged power outage currently being experienced in Oji River, Achi and surrounding communities is due to a breaker fault at the Oji River Transmission Station.
The Head, Communications MEDL, Mr Emeka Ezeh, explained to newsmen on Thursday in Enugu that the Oji River Transmission Station is operated by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Ezeh said that the development had resulted in a loss of supply to the Achi 33kV feeder; thereby, affecting electricity distribution to several communities and villages served by the feeder.
“The affected areas include: Ahani, Amaetiti, Ofia N’Oji, Obodoukwu, Achi Girls, Achi Joint, Ekegbo, Eze Sunday Amakpunator, Obodo Ijiji, Umueze, Umuoka South, Obodo-Akpaka, Odudu Obeagu, Agungu-Ezioha, Ajaba, Mmaku, Otoku, Okpomodo, Awa and Mgbidi.
“Other affected locations are: Ogugu, Eziama Afam, Obinetiti, Obinagu Isiokwe, Amuzu, Umuigwe, Agbadala, Umuike, Abor, Ihe, Ugwuegbo, Nkwo Inyi, Enugu Inyi, Nweke Inyi, Isiama Olaw, Obinetiti Olaw, Alum Inyi and Centre Akpugoeze,
“The rest are: Amagu Akpugoeze, Obinagu Akpugoeze, Umuokpara, Ofiugwu, Amankwo Inyi, Near Borehole, Orie Market, and the Local Government Area,” he said.

Ezeh noted that TCN team had been working assiduously to replace the faulty equipment.
He said that MEDL was collaborating closely with TCN to ensure that power supply is restored as quickly as possible.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this situation has caused our valued customers and appreciate your patience and understanding.
“Be assured that supply will be restored immediately upon completion of the repair works.
“MEDL remains committed to delivering improved and reliable electricity services to all its customers,” he added.
