2027: Alli rallies grassroots mobilisers for Tinubu in Oyo

By Adewale Owoade

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Sen. Sharafadeen Alli, has charged grassroots mobilisers to intensify efforts to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Alli gave the charge at the inauguration of the Oyo State executives of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT) across the 33 local government areas of the state, alongside its media team.

He urged members of the movement and APC supporters to take the achievements and policies of the Tinubu administration to the grassroots.

The senator cited the administration’s economic reforms, improved access to credit for businesses and farmers, and commitment to local government autonomy as reasons for Nigerians to support Tinubu’s re-election.

“I appeal to our people who are members of GMT and APC to let them know all the good things our President has done. He is trying to improve the economy and ensure a single-digit interest rate, making it easier for small-scale businesses and farmers to access loans,” he said.

Alli also defended the removal of petrol subsidy, arguing that the savings had been channelled to the three tiers of government.

“The gains from subsidy removal have been shared with the states and local governments. Finally, local government autonomy is very essential to us,” he said.

He urged the newly inaugurated executives to remain committed and ensure the movement’s activities reach communities across the state.

Earlier, the Director-General of GMT in Oyo State, Alhaja Aminat Oparemi, popularly known as Princess Opasan, said the inauguration was to establish a strong grassroots mobilisation structure.

She explained that the exercise covered all 33 LGAs, with inauguration of various operational teams including the media arm, saying that the movement was working towards Tinubu’s re-election and Alli’s emergence as governor in 2027.

“We are expecting Oloye Sharafadeen Alli as our incoming governor and our principal, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the President of Nigeria in 2027,” she said.

The D-G said the organisation was targeting between 20 to 30 million votes for Tinubu nationwide, expressing confidence that its grassroots structures would play a significant role.

A former Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Prince Gbade Lana, also expressed support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition, describing the President’s leadership as courageous.

Lana cited infrastructure development and efforts to revive the economy as areas where the administration had recorded progress, expressing optimism that ongoing projects would receive further attention in a second term.
