Women across Nigeria’s South-East region have declared their support for the second-term ambition of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing his vision and commitment to the development of the region and the country at large, a statement by Busola Kukoyi, SSA Media to the First Lady, disclosed.

This position was made known at the South-East Zonal APC Women Presidential Rally held in Enugu, where the achievements of the Tinubu administration were highlighted. The women described the President as tested, trusted and deserving of another term in office.

Speaking at the rally, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, assured the gathering that the pains associated with the process of birthing a new and formidable Nigeria were over, declaring that the country was now on the path to prosperity.

“As the President said, it is time for prosperity. You know, the pain of labour to birth a child is over. It is time for joy and prosperity,” she said.

The First Lady noted that Nigeria stands at the threshold of prosperity after enduring the challenges associated with the ongoing reforms. She therefore called on women across the region to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid.

She assured Nigerians that the President would remain committed to transforming the country, adding that the APC is a party that keeps its promises.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu also highlighted the consistent interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) in empowering women, young people and vulnerable groups through financial assistance, skills acquisition programmes and the provision of tools, implements and equipment. She assured that these interventions would continue.

As part of the rally, the First Lady flagged off the distribution of empowerment items to 5,000 women in Enugu State.

Also present at the rally to mobilise support for President Tinubu were Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Governor of Imo State, APC candidates contesting for the Senate, House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly across the South-East, the Wife of the Senate President, the Wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the APC National Woman Leader and the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, among other party stakeholders.

Earlier, the First Lady, alongside the women who accompanied her to the state, paid a visit to the Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, led by its Chairman, Igwe Samuel Asadu.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, Igwe Asadu expressed their satisfaction with the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged their support for his administration.

They also commended the First Lady for her commitment to improving the lives of women, young people and children, particularly through the various interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative.
