CSDA: Enugu Govt Identifies 6 Additional Communities For Developmental Intervention Projects

The Enugu State Government has identified and sensitised six additional communities within the suburb of Enugu metropolis for developmental intervention projects to uplift the living standards of residents.

The communities included: Ugbo-Odogwu, Ugwogo-Nike, Umuchigbo, Iji-Nike (Parklane Extension), Rehab Emene and Agu-Abor, within suburb of Enugu East Local Government Area (LGA) to benefit from the Nigerian Community Action Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES 2.0) intervention programme.

The General Manager of Enugu State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, disclosed this on Saturday during project sensitisation meeting with residents of Ugbo-Odogwu community.

Ani noted that sensitisation and Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) engagement to additional communities in Enugu East LGA was as part of efforts to identify grassroots development priorities under the NG-CARES 2.0 intervention programme.

He said that the exercise was aimed at enlightening residents on the importance of active participation in the community-driven development process and encouraging them to identify and articulate their most pressing needs for possible intervention.

“In the engagement, CSDA team emphasises the importance of collective participation, transparency, accountability, and community ownership in achieving meaningful and sustainable development.

“We encourage the residents to take an active role in the PRA process, as their contributions would help ensure that proposed projects reflect their actual needs and development aspirations,” he said.

The General Manager further stressed that the Agency remained committed to ensuring that development interventions are people-centred and responsive to the challenges confronting communities.

“The exercise aligns with the development vision of the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose administration continues to prioritise inclusive grassroots development and improved access to essential services.

“Through CSDA and the NG-CARES platform, the state government is strengthening community participation and ownership to ensure that intervention projects address the genuine needs of the people and deliver sustainable benefits across the state,” he said.

Responding, Hon. Osita Okoh, Member representing Enugu East Urban Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, expressed appreciation to Gov. Mbah for his continued support for grassroots development.

Okoh noted that Mbah-led administration’s commitment had improved the living conditions of communities across the state.

“I am optimistic that the intervention projects, which will come after these engagement, have direct impact of teeming population of my constituents residing in these communities,” he said.

Community leaders, who attended the engagement, commended the government’s efforts to bring development closer to the people.

They expressed hope that the sensitisation and PRA would pave the way for intervention projects would address the priority needs of the benefiting communities.

The NG-CARES 2.0 intervention programmes included provision of community reticulated boreholes, toilets and small grant to support local businesses to stimulate local economies within communities.
