Lagos (FLOWERBUDNEWS): NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye
has enjoined the Agency’s international partners to support the establishment of vaccine manufacturing facilities in Nigeria, particularly fill-and-finish modular vaccine production.
Prof. Adeyeye made the call while speaking at 8th Nigeria Pharma Manufacturers’ Expo, organised by PMG-MAN and PGE Expo PVT Limited in Lagos where she was the GUEST of HONOUR.
The NAFDAC Boss noted that closing the vaccine production gap, would enable NAFDAC to attain WHO Maturity Level 4 (ML4) for Nigeria, and achieve Lot Release certification for vaccines.
Prof. Adeyeye explained that achievement of Lot Release certification for vaccines, was a major outstanding benchmark in the Agency’s path to full global regulatory recognition.
The Director General highlighted her Agency’s landmark achievements which included a 70% reduction in the importation of products under the 5+5 Policy and Ceiling Initiative.
Other remarkable NAFDAC achievements in recent years, also included the successful re-certification of WHO Maturity Level 3, the first in Africa, and the WHO pre-qualification of NAFDAC’s Yaba laboratory in 2023, She noted.
Prof. Adeyeye however, commended President Tinubu’s 2024 Executive Order for unlocking critical incentives that has also boosted local pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The Chairman of PMG-MAN, Mr. Oluwatosi Jolayemi, commended Prof. Adeyeye for her steadfast leadership in driving GMP compliance.
Jolayemi said that Prof. Adeyeye had successfully aligned Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industry with international best practices, stressing that her various NAFDAC initiatives and policies were already transforming the pharmaceutical ecosystem. (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
