Former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Adetunji Tajudeen Ajagbe, is returning to the political arena with a bid to represent Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo Federal Constituency of Osun State, saying his experience in the National Assembly would enable him to provide what he considers more effective representation for the constituency.
Ajagbe, who is seeking the seat on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said his decision to contest again was driven by the need to consolidate on the work he began during his first tenure and respond to what his supporters describe as continuing developmental needs across the four local government areas.
According to a statement by his media team, Ajagbe’s first stint in the National Assembly was marked by constituency empowerment, educational support, skills acquisition and the facilitation of infrastructure projects. The team cited the distribution of equipment and grants to small businesses, support for youths and students, and projects including classrooms, boreholes, transformers and rural electrification.
The former lawmaker is also positioning his return around youth employment, women’s empowerment, agricultural development and increased federal intervention in roads, education and healthcare. His supporters contend that his previous experience gives him an understanding of how to navigate the National Assembly and pursue constituency projects.
His decision to return also comes against the backdrop of political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections. Ajagbe has chosen the ADC platform and has publicly associated himself with efforts to strengthen multiparty politics and opposition participation.
For Ajagbe, the 2027 contest is therefore being presented by his campaign as a return to public service rather than a first-time political venture, with the former lawmaker seeking a renewed mandate to represent the four-LGA constituency at the National Assembly.
