Kano: The Police command in Kano State has arrested Habibu Bello, a suspected kidnapper and member of a syndicate involved in armed robbery and cattle rustling.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Kano.
Haruna-Kiyawa said Bello allegedly belonged to an armed robbery syndicate operating across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna states.
He said Anti-Kidnapping Squad operatives arrested the suspect on Sept. 14 at about 4:48 p.m., following credible intelligence.
According to him, the suspect confessed to several kidnapping incidents and cattle rustling in Gwarzo and Kwanar Dangora, Kano State, and parts of Kaduna State.
Haruna-Kiyawa said investigation was ongoing, while efforts were intensified to arrest other members of the syndicate.
He added that the police were also working to recover weapons allegedly used by the syndicate in its operations.
Similarly, police operatives recovered a Cine-Camera Drone marked GT 50 during a clearance operation in Kano State.
The spokesperson said the drone was recovered on Sept. 17 at about 4 p.m. at Hawan Tarau village, Bebeji Local Government Area.
He said the drone was found lying on the ground, adding that efforts were ongoing to trace its source and identify its owner.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, commended the operatives for their gallantry during the operations.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive clearance operations in collaboration with neighbouring police commands.
Adamu-Bakori said the operations would help deny criminal elements safe havens across Kano and neighbouring states. (NAN)
