Police investigate murder of popular Enugu politician by unknown assailants

The Police Command in Enugu State has commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder of Chief Ikechukwu Oloto,53, a popular Nsukka-based Enugu State politician.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Friday in Enugu.

Ndukwe said that police operatives received a report on Sept.17, at about 5:45 p.m., that he had been found in a pool of blood in his residence in Nsukka.

“Police operatives promptly responded and found him with deep suspected machete cuts to his head and stomach.

“He was rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by the attending doctor.

“His remains were deposited at a mortuary for preservation and autopsy,” he said.

The police spokesman said that a manhunt had been launched to track his assailant(s).

It would be recalled that suspected assailant(s), on Thursday evening, murdered Oloto, popularly known as Okanga Moo, a prominent politician in the state.

Oloto, who hailed from Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, was allegedly attacked and murdered inside his residence at Odenigbo area of Nsukka.
