The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), Federal Polytechnic Ayede Chapter, has urged newly recruited staff of the Polytechnic to embrace discipline, professionalism, confidentiality and strict adherence to institutional rules as essential ingredients for effective service delivery.
The charge was given yesterday during a sensitisation programme organised by the Association for newly recruited staff at the TETFund Hall, Iresa-Pupa Temporary Site of the Polytechnic.
Speaking on “The Rules and Regulations of the Registry Department,” the Deputy Registrar, Mr. G. K. Olatinwo, emphasised the importance of punctuality, corporate dressing, confidentiality and good human relations in the Registry Department.
Olatinwo advised the new staff to conduct themselves professionally and maintain the integrity of official information entrusted to them, noting that their attitude to work would contribute significantly to the efficiency and reputation of the institution.
In a presentation titled “Ethics, Functions and Responsibilities,” Divisional Head (Treasury), Bursary Department, Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Mr. Musa Araoye, described ethics as the practice of doing what is right and expected within one’s area of specialisation.
He stressed that responsible staff members must discharge their duties diligently, comply with established procedures and observe due process in carrying out official assignments.
Araoye further encouraged the participants to understand the responsibilities attached to their respective positions and avoid actions capable of undermining institutional values and administrative procedures.
The programme was attended by members of the SSANIP Executive Council, led by the Chairman, Com. Alhaji Idris Ismail. Other executives present were the Vice Chairman, Com. John Onifade; General Secretary, Com. Arc. Moruf Isola; Assistant General Secretary, Com. Olalekan Jimoh; Treasurer, Com. Ayomi Alaanu; Financial Secretary, Com. Fasilat Oyeniyi; Public Relations Officer, Com. Nasiru Jubrin; Auditor, Com. Abdulwaasi Ismaheel; and Trustee, Com. Peter Oyeleke.
In his closing remarks, the SSANIP Chairman, Com. Alhaji Idris Ismail, urged the newly recruited staff to translate the knowledge gained from the programme into positive workplace practices.
Ismail charged them to remain diligent, loyal and committed to their duties while aligning their contributions with the vision and aspirations of the Polytechnic under the leadership of the Rector, Dr. Isiaka Tunji Adelabu.
The sensitisation programme ended with an interactive question-and-answer session, providing participants with an opportunity to seek further clarification on professional conduct, institutional procedures and their responsibilities as staff members.
