Nsukka Chairman says 20 Type-2 PHCs are over 90% complete, one functional
The Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area in Enugu State, Engr Jude Asogwa, says 20 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) are over 90 per cent complete and one of the facilities already functional.
Asogwa disclosed this at the recently completed and functional Ihe Nsukka PHC Centre on Tuesday while interacting with journalists on tour of ongoing and various concluded projects by Gov. Peter Mbah’s administration.
He said that Nsukka was grateful to the governor in approving one additional PHC centre mistakenly inserted by the contractor, apart from the 20 Type-2 PHCs approved for each of the 20 political wards in Nsukka LGA.
According to him, as you can see, appreciate and your members checking their blood pressure, sugar and other vitals. This PHC is well equipped and staffed to attend to most of the health concerns.

“The PHC is solar-powered, with a functional borehole, oxygen cylinder, drugs, laboratory, all sorts of medical equipment and consumables, maternity, wards and an accommodation for doctor, nurses and other clinicians already working here.
“Other ongoing 20 Type-2 PHC projects are over 90 per cent complete and we will some taken delivery of their equipment and consumables from the state government.
“This is notwithstanding some existing and functional PHCs funded by the government,” he said.
Asogwa said that the state government had upgrade and revitalise the Nsukka General Hospital, installed a N1 billion oxygen plant as well as other equipment and state-of-the-art ambulance.
The chairman said that work on the 20 brand new Smart Green Schools are already in various levels of completion.

“The council is taking delivery of 86 computers for each of the 20 Smart Green Schools, television screens, laboratory equipment, free school uniforms as well as desks and chairs for our children’s experiential-tailored learning,” he said.
Asogwa said that the people of Nsukka are grateful to Gov.Mbah for the massive dualisation work on the Enugu-Nike-Opi-Nsukka Road, some completed roads and couple of roads to be flagged-off for construction and reconstruction.
“We are grateful to His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah for the massive developmental projects from health, education, roads, social interventions and a brand new teaching hospital in Nsukka axis of the state.
“We are also grateful to President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Mbah for making it possible for us to have now the first Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) from Nsukka extraction.
“There is serious reconstruction work ongoing at the 9th Mile-Nsukka-Obollo Afor Dual Carriageway, which cut-across Nsukka LGA by the President Tinubu’s administration,” he said.
Asogwa noted that the people of Nsukka had vowed to show appreciation to Tinubu and Mbah for the people-oriented and impactful projects by massive and en bloc votes in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections.
“As a people, we will show appreciation to these great leaders by our avowed massive and direct votes come 2027 General Elections and to assure their people-oriented projects and kind dispositions to Nsukka people get rewarded.”
