Osun Governorship Poll: Adeleke Campaign Warns INEC Against Pressure to Change Established Collation Centres
The Imole Campaign Council is in receipt of very credible information that intense pressure is being mounted on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to change the established venues of Ward and Local Government collation centres across Osun State.
We are particularly concerned that the alleged plan is designed to create confusion and provide an avenue for the manipulation of results, including the swapping of genuine Polling Unit results and the computation of fake results prepared in advance by the APC.
We remind INEC that these collation centres are well-known, documented locations that have been used for several elections over the years. They cannot, and must not, be arbitrarily changed in the course of an ongoing election for partisan purposes.
We therefore call on the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner and all principal officers involved in the conduct of this election to resist every pressure to compromise the process. INEC must remain impartial and protect the integrity of the votes cast by the people.
We equally alert the security agencies, local and international observers, and the media to this dangerous sinister plan.
All stakeholders must remain vigilant and ensure that no attempt is made to manipulate the collation process through the creation of unfamiliar or substituted centres.
The patience of the people of Osun State must not be stretched beyond limit. Any attempt to subvert their votes through a manipulated collation process will be firmly resisted through all lawful and democratic means.
Genuine results of votes cast by the people of Osun State must be collated and declared, as noting less is acceptable.
