Promotion of National values: NOA strengthens collaboration with Olofa of Offa

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has sought stronger collaboration with the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, in promoting national values, cultural heritage and peaceful coexistence in Kwara and Nigeria.
The Director, North Central Zonal Directorate of NOA, Dr Priscilla Gondoaluor, made the move during a working visit by the agency on Wednesday to the palace of the Olofa of Offa.
Gondoaluor said that traditional institutions remained critical to preserving the nation’s cultural heritage and strengthening the value system of society.
She commended the Olofa of Offa for his leadership and the role of the traditional institution in supporting government efforts, particularly in addressing insecurity in the state.
The zonal director also congratulated the monarch on his 16th anniversary on the throne and expressed confidence in his ability to serve as a strong ambassador for its programmes and initiatives.
Gondoaluor further urged the Olofa to intensify efforts towards value reorientation in Offa, Kwara and Nigeria at large.
She stressed that the erosion of core values such as respect, dignity of labour and responsibility has affected the country’s identity and called for renewed commitment by both leaders and citizens to rebuild the nation’s value system.
The agency pledged its readiness to partner with the traditional institution in building a renewed national identity and restoring confidence in Nigeria, while expressing optimism that the Olofa would support the initiative.
said the visit was aimed at formally informing the traditional institution about the creation of the agency’s zonal offices and seeking the support of the monarch in advancing its mandate.
Responding on behalf of the Olofa, Shawo of Offa, Chief Abioye Mustapha welcomed the delegation and assured the agency of the palace’s readiness to collaborate with NOA.
Chief Mustapha said community participation has always been central to Offa’s development, noting that the monarch has strengthened inclusiveness by reviving traditional structures and delegating responsibilities across the kingdom’s traditional council.
He expressed confidence that the existing structures within the palace would provide a solid platform for implementing the agency’s programmes and promoting its message among the people. (NAN)
