Anambra Governorship Election: Statesman urges youths to shun thuggery, violence
A Statesman and the Owelle of Nsukka, Dr Ejikeme Odumegwu, on Thursday, urged youths to shun thuggery and violence in the forthcoming Anambra Governorship Election.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had scheduled the Anambra Governorship Election for Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
Odumegwu, who is also the Coordinator, National Youth Solidarity for Good Governance, gave the advice while addressing newsmen in Enugu on his expectations from forthright youths in Anambra State.
“My advice to the youth of Anambra State in this crucial election is to shun any act of criminality to wit: thuggery, violence and assault.
“Youths should refrain from any act of killing anyone in the name of election,” he said.
The statesman called on them to reflect deeply on these vices and the negative consequences of all these wanton actions on them each time after any election.
According to him, the thugs and killers are left in a reckless abandon at the end of the day. Youths should learn and be wise.
Odumegwu also called on the electorate to vote according to their conscience and conviction.
He warned that they should not sell their votes, “only to blame the government thereafter”.
“We should also know that the alleged failure of the Judiciary in Nigeria cannot in any way subdue the rule of conscience and consciousness,” he said.
The statesmen said that if the incumbent Gov. Chukwuma Soludo had performed reasonably enough, “there would not be much ado about the election.
“But if not, Anambra people have the potential to recall him back and put another,” he added.
