DG Salutes Pres. Tinubu’s Commitment to TAC Scheme as Agency Deploys Volunteers to Seychelles, Sierra Leone

– Challenges Volunteers to Give in their Best in Countries of Assignment.

Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps, Rt.Hon.Yusuf Buba Yakub, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strong support to the promotion of Nigerian Technical Aid Corps’ mandate.

Hon. Buba gave the commendation in Abuja on Monday during the deployment of Technical Aid Corps Volunteers to Sierra Leone and Seychelles, Nkem Anyata-Lafia, Special Assistant to the NTAC, DG (Media and Publicity) disclosed in a statement.

The TAC DG said that it was worth being celebrated that, Nigeria has, for the past 37 years, continued to deploy professional Volunteers to assist fellow developing countries in Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific countries in the spirit of the United Nations’ South-South Co-operation.

He disclosed that over 10,000 Volunteers with diverse capacities have in these past years, been sent to serve in over forty countries of the world where they have demonstrated competence, simple lifestyle, and above all quality service to the appreciation of the host countries and institutions where they served.

He charged the Volunteers to shun all hindrances to quality service-delivery in their countries of assignment, the former federal lawmaker enjoined them to endure all conditions of living they find themselves in, stressing that such was the demand of volunteerism.

“I understand that some of you may own big homes in Nigeria, but, please make do with whatever you are offered in your place of service.You must commit to making this country and our dear President proud on this national call to duty.

”If you have any challenges, please, contact our Mission in the country where you are serving.

“The tripartite agreement you will sign with us and the country of your service will itemise all our responsibilities to you, which the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps will continue to abide by.

Earlier, TAC Director of Programmes, Amb.Zakari Usman, told the Volunteers to strive to live up to the demands of the Scheme by following in the exemplary footsteps of those who served before them.

He also challenged them to showcase the best of our country in competence and in character at all times while outside the country

A member of the Volunteers, Mr.Salmanu Mamman-Shatta, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, conveyed their appreciation to the Federal Government for giving them the opportunity to serve.

He also pledged that the team would do the nation proud in the 24-month service scheme.

Among those present at the event were the Director of Administration at NTAC, Amb.Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed; the Deputy Director (Admin.), Amb.Saidu Muhammed, and Mrs.Meimunat Haruna Mustapha, Deputy Director (Accounts) as well as the Special Assistant to the DG on Media Matters, Mr.Abdulkadir Iliyasu, among others.
