Sokoto (FLOWERBUDNEWS) NAFDAC in Sokoto has confiscated expired and unwholesome products worth over N15 million naira during enforcement operations to rid Sokoto state of expired and unwholesome products.
NAFDAC Sokoto State Coordinator, Garba Abubakar Adamu who disclosed this in online chat with FLOWERBUDNEWS said that the operational success followed a
systematic, methodic and comprehensive surveillance and raids on Markets to confiscate and mop-up the dangerous products.
”More than 3,000 cartons of soft drinks, 68 cartons of Butter Spread and 40 cartons of Agrochemical, valued at over ₦15m were seized and are stored for destruction,” Garba Adamu disclosed.
He said that all the violators have been sanctioned according to existing regulations.
The State Coordinator also disclosed that expired drugs worth ₦11.5 million had also been voluntarily handed over to NAFDAC in Sokoto by the State Chapter of the National Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicine Dealers (NAPPMED).

They are billed for destruction along with the others confiscated, Adamu stated, he said.
Receiving the expired drugs, the State Coordinator lauded the NAPPMED members, saying; ”this is highly commendable.”
Garba Adamu attributed the increasing successes being recorded by NAFDAC in the Sokoto operational area to the improved constant collaboration between the Agency, Security forces, Market Union and Authorities, and other Critical Stakeholders.
He said that, with the guidance of the Agency,’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, ”NAFDAC now puts more emphasis in engaging all stakeholders on periodic dialogues and guiding them on best practices in their line of businesses.”
Adamu noted that the NAFDAC initiative had resulted in the Stakeholders and the general public now having more confidence in NAFDAC abilities to effectively safeguard the health of the nation by making inquiries and reporting violations/complaints.
He enjoined the general public to be vigilant and patronise only NAFDAC registered Products.

The NAFDAC State Coordinator also counselled the public to always report any violation, including sale of expired products, damaged products or adulterated products, etc, to the nearest NAFDAC Office. (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
