Mr Aderemi Oseni, Member, House of Representative (APC) representing Ido/ Ibarapa – East of Oyo State, has donated equipment worth N250million to members of Blacksmith, Welder, Iron benders and Metal Technicians (BWIAN) Oyo chapter.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event took place at Bembo Games Village, Apata, Ibadan.
The empowerment programme and presentation of award certificate as Governor – General of BWIAN in Oyo state to Oseni was done by the governor of the association Mr Munirudeen Adegoke.
The event was to commemorate one year in office of BWIAN Executives in Oyo State.
Oseni, presented the equipment including grinders, generators worth N100 million to different members of the association.
He also launched a N50million cash for the establishment of a Cooperative Society for members of the association among other things.
Oseni said the donations were borne out of his zeal to ease the sufferings of the people of Oyo state as a result of high poverty rates.
” It is an effort to see how we can turn so many of our youths to employers of labour in their choosing careers.
” To see how we could support them, because many of them after their training don’t have the capacity to purchase equipment for themselves to practice what they trained for over the years.
” It’s for us to see how we turn a lot of our people to wealthy people in the environment we find ourselves, particularly BWIAN as an association, also a trade which is an aspect of structural engineering.
“The award they gave me triggered me to support them to be able to practice and become employers of labour in the environment they find themselves.”
Mr Munirudeen Adegoke, BWIAN’s governor, thanked Rep Oseni for the gesture and used the event to appeal to other political office holders in elective positions in Oyo state to emulate Oseni in giving back to the electorates.(NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
