Professor Talabi to Deliver Redeemer’s 26th Inaugural Lecture

Professor Felix Olajide Talabi, Professor of Journalism and Media Studies at Redeemer’s University, Ede, is set to deliver the University’s 26th Inaugural Lecture, further underscoring his distinguished career and contributions to journalism, media scholarship and development communication.

The lecture, titled “Episcopacy of Journalism in Academia: From Millennium Development to Sustainable Development Goals in Humanus Directio,” is scheduled to hold at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2026, at Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State.

Professor Talabi, who holds a B.Sc. from Owerri, M.A. from Nsukka and PhD from Uyo, is a Professor of Journalism and Media Studies in the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Social Sciences, Redeemer’s University.

The inaugural lecture is expected to provide an academic reflection on the evolving place of journalism in society, particularly its role in advancing human development and responding to the changing global development agenda from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through the lecture, Professor Talabi is expected to bring his wealth of academic experience and scholarly engagement in journalism and media studies to bear on the relationship between journalism, academia and sustainable human development.

His emergence as the lecturer for the University’s 26th Inaugural Lecture further highlights the significance of his academic career and scholarly standing within the field of journalism and communication studies.

The lecture will be delivered under the distinguished chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor of Redeemer’s University, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, FFAN, FFPPS, on behalf of the Senate of the University.

The event is open to members of the university community, academics, media professionals, students, researchers, development practitioners and the general public.

The lecture also comes at a significant period in the development trajectory of Redeemer’s University, which continues to position itself as a leading institution in research, innovation and impact-driven education.
