A community request raised during an electioneering engagement in Igbori, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, has culminated in the completion and handover of two borehole projects to residents of the community.
The projects, according to information provided by the project organisers, were initiated following concerns expressed by residents during a campaign engagement over inadequate access to reliable water supply.
Following the appeal, Hon. Adesoji Adedeji (SOJI), the 2027 APC deputy-governorship candidate in Oyo State, directed that two boreholes be provided for the community.
The two projects were completed and formally handed over to the people of Igbori on 30 September 2026, turning a concern raised during a community engagement into completed physical infrastructure.
The development highlights the potential value of grassroots engagements when concerns raised by residents are followed by concrete interventions.
For the people of Igbori, the significance of the projects extends beyond the physical infrastructure. Access to dependable water is closely connected with household needs, sanitation, health and the everyday activities of rural communities.
The Igbori intervention therefore provides an example of how issues identified during direct interaction with communities can be translated into specific projects.
Adesoji, who was unveiled by the All Progressives Congress in July 2026 as the running mate to Senator Sharafadeen Alli for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, has subsequently participated in grassroots engagements across parts of the state.
The Igbori borehole projects now add a tangible community-level intervention to that record of engagement, with residents able to directly identify the outcome of the request made during the earlier encounter.
At the heart of the development is a simple principle: community voices matter most when they are heard, documented and followed by action.
From an issue raised during a campaign engagement to two completed boreholes handed over to residents, the Igbori experience demonstrates the practical difference that can emerge when grassroots concerns receive attention and resources are committed to addressing them.
