Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, has opened enrolment for the October 2026 Cohort of its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Skill Acquisition Programme, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to equipping staff, students and members of its host communities with practical skills for economic empowerment and self-reliance.
The programme, which will hold at the Temporary Site of the Polytechnic in Iresa Pupa, provides participants with opportunities to acquire marketable technical and vocational competencies capable of opening pathways to employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihood.
Under the leadership of the Rector and Chief Executive of the Polytechnic, Dr. I. T. Adelabu, FCA, ACTI, MNIM, the Management has continued to emphasise practical education as a critical component of the institution’s development agenda.
The October cohort is therefore positioned as another strategic step towards translating education and skills training into practical economic opportunities, in line with the Polytechnic’s philosophy that education should extend beyond the acquisition of certificates to the development of competence, confidence, creativity and enterprise.
Speaking on the initiative, the Management stressed the importance of equipping members of the Polytechnic community and the surrounding communities with skills that can be deployed immediately in the marketplace.
The programme offers training in 10 approved skill areas, carefully structured to provide participants with hands-on knowledge, practical experience and certification upon successful completion.
The Category A training areas, with a fee of ₦30,000, are:
– Phone Repair and Maintenance
– Block Making Technology
– Computer Hardware and Software Repair
– Satellite Dish Installation
– Welding and Fabrication
The Category B training areas, with a fee of ₦40,000, are:
– Bags and Leather Work
– Fashion Design and Garment Making
– Soap and Detergent Production
– Culinary Arts and Food Handling
– Hair Dressing
According to the programme structure, the approved fees cover necessary training materials, hands-on tools and certification upon completion, providing participants with an integrated learning experience focused on practical competence.
The Polytechnic explained that the programme is open to staff, students and members of the surrounding community, making it an inclusive skills-development initiative designed to extend the institution’s empowerment drive beyond its immediate academic environment.
The October 2026 cohort is particularly significant as it provides prospective participants with an opportunity to acquire skills that can be transformed into personal businesses, additional sources of income and employment opportunities.
The initiative also reinforces the administration’s broader commitment to building a Polytechnic where knowledge meets practice, skills meet opportunity, and education translates into enterprise.
