‎A candidate for the Osun State governorship ticket of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Hon Adebayo SIMON ADEWALE has withdrawn from the 2026 governorship race and declared support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election.

‎Adewale made the declaration on Thursday while addressing journalists, saying the decision followed consultations with party leaders, supporters and other stakeholders.

‎He said the decision was not influenced by pressure or personal interest, but was aimed at placing the interest of Osun State above personal ambition.

‎According to him, he had carefully assessed the political situation in the state and concluded that Adeleke deserved another term to consolidate the achievements of his administration.

‎“Accordingly, I hereby declare my full support for the re-election of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke,” he said.

‎He also appealed to his supporters, members of the APM and the people of Osun State to support Adeleke’s re-election.

‎The former candidate said his decision was driven by the desire to promote peace, stability and development in the state.

‎He added that politics should always be about serving the people and advancing the collective interest of the state.

‎Adewale said he believed supporting Adeleke at this time would best serve the future and overall interest of Osun State.

‎He expressed appreciation to members and supporters of the APM, while calling for unity ahead of the governorship election.
