Calabar (FLOWERBUDNEWS): The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Offiong Efanga Offiong, has approved the appointment of Dr. Stephen Ushie Akpa as Acting Head, Department of Health Education and Promotion, Faculty of Science Education.
Dr. Akpa’s appointment is for an initial tenure of two years and takes effect from 16th July, 2026, to 15th July, 2028, according to a letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, a statement by the University’s Public Relations Unit has disclosed.
In a related development, the Vice Chancellor also approved the renewal of the appointment of Dr. Chinonyerem Iheanacho as Acting Head, Department of Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy.
The renewal, conveyed in a separate letter signed by the Vice Chancellor, is for a final two year tenure effective from 1st July, 2026, to 30th June, 2028.
Prof. Offiong expressed confidence in the appointees’ ability to provide purposeful leadership and utilize their wealth of knowledge, experience, and professional expertise in the effective administration of their respective departments.
The Vice Chancellor urged the appointees to align with the University’s vision and remain committed to upholding its values, standards, and expectations while ensuring efficient service delivery.
He further emphasized the importance of accountability and charged them to deliver measurable results in the discharge of their responsibilities.
