Gombe (FLOWERBUDNEWS): As the NAFDAC nationwide sensitisation of youths against drug abuse intensifies, the Agency has inaugurated its Consumer Safety Club (NCSC) in Government Day Secondary School, Gandu, Gombe State

Speaking during the launching ceremony, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye said that the current youth sensitisation and enlightenment campaign was part of NAFDAC “Catch Them Young” initiative to combat drug abuse among young people.

Prof. Adeyeye, who was represented by the Gombe State NAFDAC Coordinator, Pharm. James Agada described the 14.4 per cent prevalence of drug abuse among Nigerians as “alarming.”
The NAFDAC Boss said that the Agency was committed.to collaborating with parents to identify behavioural issues, stressing that the combined effort of stakeholders is essential to reduce drug dependency among youths.
She urged the sudents to resist peer pressure, abstain from drug abuse, and seek professional help when necessary.

Prof Adeyeye highlighted the importance of NCSC membership, urging the students to assist in information flow on NAFDAC regulatory activities.
