The new Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Enugu State Command, Dr Elijah Willie, has vowed to tackle critical national assets and infrastructure vandals and thieves in Enugu State.

Willie told newsmen in a press briefing on Friday in Enugu that he had assumed duty with a deep sense of responsibility and commitment as the State Commandant of the NSCDC in Enugu State.

He also pledged to uphold zero tolerance for crime and criminality; adding that his first priority was to ensure that the command adopt a proactive approach to addressing security challenges in the state.

“This will involve close collaboration with our sister security agencies, recognising that the fight against crime is one we must tackle together.

“I will also ensure all-round security patrols throughout the state and will establish a crack squad and rapid response units that will be available to swiftly respond to distress calls and emergencies.

“These steps are necessary to maintain constant vigilance and an effective deterrence against those who wish to disrupt the peace in Enugu State.

“I want to assure people of this great state that my team and I will build on the strong foundation laid by my predecessors, as we continue to strengthen the Corps’ presence and operations down to Area Commands and Divisional Commands.”

The new commandant assured that he would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that officers and men of his command are fully equipped and ready to address the security needs of every community in the state.

According to him, one of our key focuses will be the protection of critical national assets within the state; as these infrastructures are vital to our state’s economic and social stability, and we will ensure they remain secure at all times.

He said, “The command leverages on good and actionable intelligence gathering and dissemination; and this we will continue to uphold to keep our government and support instruments abreast of developments pertinent to the security of our people.

“However, security is not the responsibility of the Corps alone. It requires the active participation of every citizen.

“I call on all good people of Enugu State to partner with us by providing actionable intelligence that will help us identify and neutralise threats before they escalate.

“I am committed to fostering an environment of trust and cooperation between the NSCDC and the public; and together, we can create a safer and more peaceful Enugu State. Your cooperation and vigilance are key to the success of our mission.”

Willie commended the exemplary leadership of Dr Peter Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, for his steadfast dedication to the security and welfare of the residents of the state.

“I offer my heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ahmed Audi, our indefatigable Commandant-General, for his continuous guidance and support as we strive to uphold the highest standards of service in the NSCDC,” he added.
