Group Charges President Tinubu, APC Chair, Ganduje Over Progressives Institute

    Flowerbudnews

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Abdullahi Umar Ganduje led National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC have been commended for their keen interest at setting up a world class Think Tank for the ruling party.

An Abuja based Civil Society Organization, CSO, Center for Applied Policy and Social Advocacy stated this following its First Quarter Policy Review on Nigerian Political Progress NPP.

According to a press statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday, the group hails APC led Federal Government, stressing that with the numerous reforms of the Tinubu led administration, the country is undoubtedly on its path to a genuine socio-economic development. The group opines that the party’s Think Tank will strengthen it’s policy formulation and expand impact of the government.

The statement which was signed by the group’s Executive Head, Mohammed Bello, hails the APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for coming up with the idea of Progressive institute, noting that if come to reality, the Institute will provide an avenue for the party to measure the impact of government polices and programs on the Nigerian masses.

“We are optimistic that such a world class institute will enhance democratic practice in Nigeria and provide the ruling party the opportunity to engage Nigerians in a robust discussion. It will bridge communication gap between the Party, Nigeria’s Political elites, the civil society groups, the media as well as international community hence this will promote inclusiveness and educate public officials on corporate governance”. The group said.

The group therefore appeals to President Tinubu not to relent on its lofty reforms no matter how tough it is and ensure that The Progressives Institute, TPI comes to reality as soon as possible, adding that “the institute has the potential to enhance the policy capacity of the party and accelerate the popularity of the party’s programs and achievements of the government “.

The advocacy group particularly commends the APC National Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and other members of National Working Committee over their determination to ensure speedy take off of the Institute.

” A ruling party as big as the APC deserves such a a world class Institute because this will provide public office holders with new and modern trends in corporate governance.

We appeal to the leadership of the APC to ensure such a beautiful baby is born without further delay”, the group stated.

Abuja (Flowerbudnews): The All Progressive Alliance (APC) has formally reacted to the recent reported rapport between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Former Gov. Peter Obi, describing their ambitions as self-indulgent and opportunistic aspirations.

APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka said in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday that Atiku and Obi ”are united by their mutual desperation to be President of Nigeria and ignoble disdain for President Bola Tinubu’s focused and extraordinary commitment to the transformation of our nation.”

    Morka Wrote:
A recent visit by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, to his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has fueled speculations of a possible alliance between both men or merger of their political parties in the lead up to 2027.

What is unclear, however, is whether Obi would make a comeback to Atiku’s PDP or whether Atiku would dump his PDP and seek rehabilitation in Obi’s Labour Party or whether both men would abandon PDP and Labour, altogether, and sojourn into the political wilderness of Professor Pat Utomi’s mega party.

News of Peter Obi’s return to the PDP would be hardly surprising. His reputation as a political wayfarer is only dwarfed by Atiku’s track record as a veteran political wanderer.

News of Atiku joining the Labour party will shock no one as he will be living up to his well established reputation as the country’s most itinerant politician. For now, Utomi’s mega party remains a figment with no offering of tangible accommodation for both men.

Atiku and Obi are united by their mutual desperation to be President of Nigeria and ignoble disdain for President Bola Tinubu’s focused and extraordinary commitment to the transformation of our nation.

Their restless drift in search of convenient party platforms to execute their presidential run only belie the self-indulgent and opportunistic essence of their aspirations.

Men without the staying power to build or fix their own parties, who flee at the slightest flicker of internal crisis cannot possibly be trusted by Nigerians to tackle serious and complex national political and economic challenges that confront our nation.

President Bola Tinubu embodies character, vision, tenacity and doggedness required to deliver a resurgent Nigeria of stable growth and development.

The administration’s bold economic policy reforms and massive infrastructural uptake have already shattered historic barriers to growth, and paved the way for steady progress and development.

We urge Nigerians to stand fast in their invaluable support of our great Party and President Bola Tinubu’s determined commitment to deliver a stronger, secure and more prosperous country for us all. (Flowerbudnews)

  • Governor Ododo Tackles Insecurity Headlong In Kogi State

Governor Ododo Tackles Insecurity Headlong In Kogi State

On Friday, April 26, 2024, the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, took the State to a higher notch in the fight against insecurity with the ‘Unveiling of Operational Vehicles for the Kogi State Vigilante Service’. Forefront News Editor-in-Chief, AMOS DUNIA, who was in the State and witnessed the colourful event, notes that it was a pragmatic approach aimed at addressing the worrying security situation in the Confluence State which serves as a major link between the Northern and Southern States of the country. Excerpts.

While other State Governors who assumed office about a year ago are still grappling and struggling to chart the road map for definite direction to take in addressing the worrying and unacceptable insecurity that is ravaging their states, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi already has a workable blueprint to tackle the cankerworm headlong.

In less than 100 days in office, the ebullient and ever-smiling Governor Ododo has brought simplicity into governance by demystifying bottlenecks usually created by some people in the corridors of power to make administration cumbersome. The open and transparent style of governance that has made it possible for more openness with the people, enables him to feel first-hand their pulse, thus enabling him to make proactive and decisive decisions devoid of bureaucratic hiccups.

With his colleagues from the Northern States opting to visit the United States of America to learn how to address insecurity in Nigeria, the ever-pragmatic Governor Ododo knew exactly what he needed to do by moving and adopting practical methodology. Indeed, without the usual media blitz and fanfare, he launched the ‘Kogi State Vigilante Services for Community Policing’ intending to achieve practical and sustainable results for the safety of lives and property across the State.

The Governor started by quietly establishing the State’s internal security network with the recruitment of an initial five thousand (5000) able-bodied personnel that were picked from the 21 Local Government Areas of the State in equal proportion. The recruitment of the 5000 personnel has not only addressed the dicey issue and challenges of insecurity but, also gone a long way in addressing the high unemployment rate in the State.

For a start, the Governor Ododo-led administration purchased 105 vehicles and 42 motorbikes that were distributed on an equal basis amongst the 21 Local Government Areas for effective patrols, monitoring and policing of the communities to check the activities of criminal elements.

Taking into consideration that Kogi State is sharing boundary with about eight other states namely Benue, Edo, Enugu, Ekiti, Kwara, Niger, Ondo and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the propensity to experience invasion and influx of criminals from other states into Kogi is quite high as some of the criminal elements may want to use the connecting State to evade arrest or take refuge and escape from being apprehended.

Conscious of this fact, the Ododo-led government’s renewed onslaughts against criminals have become operational with the recent launch of the ‘Kogi State Vigilante Services for Community Policing’ at the Muhammadu Buhari Square with a clear directive by the Governor to the internal security service that their operations in all communities shall be based on 24 hours response by the well trained joint team of vigilante service men and conventional security agencies.

Importantly, he explained that the government’s policy drive is targeted at enhancing intelligence gathering and shorter response time to distress calls as a model for community policing in Nigeria.

Governor Ododo, in flagging off the programme, recalled that the recent launch of the Metropolitan Quick Response in Lokoja and other major towns in the state and the unveiling of the operational vehicles were part of the evolving security measures and strategies geared towards ensuring that the State government keep the environment safe and secure as well as build on the solid foundation of the security architecture laid by the immediate past administration in the state.

However, he was quick to state that as the administration embarks on a consistent review of the security situation in the state, his resolve to maintain law and order in all parts of Kogi remains total, even as he vowed that the fight against criminals in the Confluence State shall be won.

In the Governor’s words; “These operational security vehicles which is the first instalment of several hundred to be provided over the next few weeks will advance the safety and security of lives and property in all parts of the state as it stands as one of our most significant operational response yet to the recent upsurge in criminal activities in some parts of the state.

“During my inauguration, I promised to embark on people-oriented programmes and projects that will directly touch the lives of our people. No doubt, to achieve the objectives of our programmes and policies, Kogi State must remain safe and secure for everyone.

“We cannot, and we will not allow criminal elements to undermine the progress and prosperity we have worked so hard to achieve in our state,” the Governor vowed.

In his usual humble nature and giving honour to whom it is due, Governor Ododo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he referred to as father and leader, for his unwavering commitment to reversing the spate of inherited security challenges in the country, stressing that as a government, Kogi State remains in total support of the President in his determination to take the fight to the terrorists in all parts of the county as have been witnessed with the recent onslaughts to degrade cells of bandits and terrorists across Nigeria.

promising that his Government shall remain grateful for their services in keeping the state and country safe.

According to Ododo; “Security remains the responsibility of everyone and we must not lose our guard at any point in time. Together, we shall overcome the challenges of insecurity and emerge stronger than ever as a state and country”.

That is certainly the hallmark of a determined, committed, focused and service-oriented leadership by a governor that has already demonstrated that the welfare and security of the people should and must take a premium position in line with the provisions of the Constitution that define what governance should be.

However, he was quick to state that as the administration embarks on a consistent review of the security situation in the state, his resolve to maintain law and order in all parts of Kogi remains total, even as he vowed that the fight against criminals in the Confluence State shall be won.

In the Governor’s words; “These operational security vehicles which is the first instalment of several hundred to be provided over the next few weeks will advance the safety and security of lives and property in all parts of the state as it stands as one of our most significant operational response yet to the recent upsurge in criminal activities in some parts of the state.

the security operational vehicles was a further testament to his administration’s collective resolve to tackle security challenges in the state head-on with enhanced speed and overall efficiency of the security operatives.

For him, the gallantry and dedication of the men and women of all the security agencies and the State vigilante services must be appreciated, especially for their sacrifices in the line of duty, promising that his Government shall remain grateful for their services in keeping the state and country safe.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the chairmanship seats in all the 33 local governments in Oyo State following Saturday’s council elections.

The announcement was made at the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) headquarters in Ibadan by the returning officers for the local governments.

Chairman of the Commission, Isiaka Olagunju, while speaking to journalists, attributed the success recorded in the exercise to the support given by Gov. Seyi Makinde and other stakeholders.

The OYSIEC chairman, who doubles as the Chief Returning Officer, however acknowledged the fact that there were some aspects of the elections that required improvement.

He said such areas would reflect in the elections report that would be submitted to the state government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Makinde, while commenting on the elections on Saturday, had said the security report about the elections had been excellent, indicating that it was violence-free.

He noted that his administration had successfully eradicated caretaker administration at the local government level, which had made people not have a say in who should govern them. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)

PDP should stop dabbling into what they do not know – The Democratic Front

    By Danladi Ahmed

Abuja (Flowerbudnews): A pro-democracy group,The Democratic Front (TDF) has said that the People’s Democratic Party PDP can not arrogate to itself to deliver on the nation’s economy having plunged it into ruins for good sixteen years.

“Imagine a political party that failed woefully and landed the country in its present parlous economic state now pontificating on efforts to revitalize the national economy as if they ever had any clue.

“Rather than bury their heads in shame because of the roles the former ruling party played in bringing the country to its knees, they are busy pontificating on the bold initiatives and reforms being initiated by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman Danjuma Mohammed and Secretary Wale Adedayo while reacting to the communique issued by PDP at the end of it National Executive Committee meeting, the TDF argued that the country has still not recovered from the mindless plundering of the economy in the PDP years.

it said: “The position of the PDP calls for outright condemnation and repudiation by every well-meaning Nigerian. If the party’s NEC had limited itself to its desperate but unrealistic bid to unify the dilapidating structures of a deeply divided political party, which the PDP has become, that communique would have attracted better attention.

“The absurdity and the manner the NEC members exhibited pretentious insensitivity to the tragic consequences of their Party’s 16 years of misrule resonates the role PDP played to hinder the growth and development of the Nigerian state.

“A political party which plundered Nigeria’s hard earned resources and brutally squandered its national patrimony for those lenghty years is expected to display remorse and responsibility on matters of economic revitalization and statecraft.

“Who will easily forget the ring-fencing of hundreds of state-owned companies and investments through an opaque privatization process, the massive diversion of oil revenue into private foreign bank accounts as well as the unconscionable sale and concession of the Nigeria power sector to unqualified and incompetent proxy companies.

“How about the loss of public funds under an alleged doubtful and dubious petrol subsidy regime, the deliberate neglect and abandonment of public infrastructure in the face of huge revenue earnings and allocations, and the flagrant disregard for the ethics of social democracy and the rule of law under the direct supervision of three PDP administrations? All these brought the nation down on its knees and unleashed poverty and economic misery on Nigerians.

“This litany of PDP’s failures and unprecedented maladministration will remain evergreen in our collective memory as a people. So it is egregiously ridiculous that PDP NEC members will cast aspersions on President Bola Tinubu highly performing economic team and asked him to reverse his impressively successful economic policies.

The group also used the opportunity to provide some insight into the gains of the Tinubu administration in the last few months.

“In less than a year of inception, the President’s economic team has pushed through policies that have led to increased revenue accruals into the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), better economic outlook and increased Gross Domestic Product (GDP) projection, a more stable naira against other currencies, increased foreign exchange inflows into the country.

“The prevailing security situation in the country is a testimony of how well the President has performed in ensuring the security of lives and properties since he came to power. The safe rescue of 137 school children that were kidnapped at Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State without payment of ransom, and the decline in the rate of insurgency, banditry, and kidnappings on the highways, particularly in the north, further showcases the outstanding achievements of President Bola Tinubu in the area of national security.

“We therefore urge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his economic team to remain focused and refused to be distracted by the PDP shenanigans.
Only the ongoing task of laying the solid foundation for genuine economic growth and political stability in Nigeria is worth your attention,” it added. (Flowerbudnews)
