Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised three terrorists and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, a motorcycle and 41 livestock during separate operations in Kaduna and Kano states.

The operations, conducted on Oct. 29 and 30, 2026, were part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on terrorists and other criminal elements across the North West region.

In Kaduna State, troops of Sector 1, while conducting a fighting patrol along the Shadow–Old Kuyello Road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area on Oct. 29, came under attack by armed terrorists.

The troops swiftly responded with superior firepower, successfully repelling the attack and forcing the terrorists to flee.

A subsequent pursuit and exploitation of the area led to the neutralisation of three terrorists and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, three rounds of ammunition and a motorcycle.

No casualties were recorded among the troops during the encounter.

In a separate operation in Kano State, troops of Sector 1, while conducting a routine patrol in Shanono town, Shanono Local Government Area, on Oct. 30, recovered 28 cows and 13 sheep abandoned by suspected cattle rustlers.

The suspected criminals reportedly fled upon sighting the advancing troops, abandoning the livestock.

The statement said efforts were ongoing to hand over the recovered animals to the appropriate authorities.

The latest operations underscored the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, combat criminal networks and recover stolen property across the Joint Operations Area.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its determination to sustain the operational momentum against terrorists and other criminal elements, while urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.

It said public cooperation remained critical to facilitating ongoing operations and restoring lasting peace and security across the North West region.
