Pastor Alex Ogundipe of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Daki-Biyu District, Kubwa, Abuja, on Sunday gave reasons he does not watch horror films.

Ogundipe, the senior pastor of the church, stated this while delivering a sermon tagged, “The Believer’s Peace” as part of the service to celebrate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.

He said he could not use his money to watch a film that will make him to be restless from the beginning of the movie to its end.

“Why should I used my money to subscribe to watch a film that my mind will not be at peace?

“If somebody opens a door in the movie, I will get agitated of what is about to happen.

“In fact, bad dreams may not be far from someone watching a horror film.

“Mount Zion Faith Ministries just released a film, ‘Agbara Nla: The Return’ where the audience were filled with spiritual power and some of them were even speaking in tongue.

“So why should I give myself unnecessary tension watching horror films?” he asked.

Speaking on the theme of the sermon, he stated that peace is not the absence of challenges.

He, however, said that any believer who is in Christ will enjoy the inner peace irrespective of the difficulties faced.

“I remember when I was in a plane and there was turbulence, I remained calm even while people onboard were apprehensive,” he said.

According to him, once you align with God’s plan, there won’t be any problem, citing Psalm 27:4.

He recalled that while Jesus Christ was arrested to be killed, he was at peace.

“Jesus was calm and was still doing miracle, even when Peter, his disciple, was busy cutting someone’s ear.

“Jesus knows he was going to a place of eternity,” he said.

The clergyman gave some titbits on how a man could obtained peace of God and retain it.

“You must be in Jesus, accept Jesus and believe in Jesus. A life without Christ is a life of crisis,” he said.

According to him, to retain God’s presence, you must be holy.

“If you want God to work with you, you must separate yourself from the world,” he said, citing 2 Corinthians 6:18.

He said to obtain the peace, one must have the knowledge of God.

“You must have faith in God and His words and trust in Him.

“The Bible says those who know their God shall be strong, and do exploits,” he said.

The pastor, who urged everyone to refrain from sin, said the book of Isaiah 57:20 and 21 says, “there is no peace for the wicked.”

He added that one of the reasons people live in anxiety and without peace is because of lack of contentment.

“Stop envying others so that you can have rest of mind,” he said.

As part of the church activities, the Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary was celebrated and prayers were offered for the peace, security and economy development of the country.

The church also prayed for the success of the 2027 general elections.

In addition, the 70th birthday thanksgiving of Special Mother-In-Israel Margret Ohenhen was equally observed.
