The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has described as totally untrue alleged claims that the President Bola Tinubu administration has neglected Northern Nigeria in terms of projects.

It stated that contrary to such insinuations by some politicians from the region, the North has benefitted immensely from the administration in terms of infrastructure projects and strategic political appointments,

In a statement signed by its Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo, TMSG argued that aside from ensuring that inherited projects are continued, the Tinubu-led administration has also introduced and pursued several legacy projects which are now at various stages of completion.

It said: “We have it on record that most of the major infrastructural projects started by the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari are recording measurable progress on the watch of President Bola Tinubu.

“This is aside from the administration’s own legacy roads and highway projects as well as interventions across various sectors.

“One of the most economically vital projects in the region inherited from the Buhari administration is the $2.8 billion, 614-kilometre long Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas project designed to move gas to industrial clusters in Northern Nigeria.

“As at August 2026, the project was put at 95% completion due largely to the marching order which President Tinubu handed down on assuming office to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to clear the bottlenecks delaying it.

“This, more than anything, shows a clear intent to ensure the speedy completion of the AKK gas pipeline, which was designed primarily to revive dormant industries along the corridor from Ajaokuta to Kano as part of President Tinubu’s vision. It is also instructive to note that Information Minister Mohammed Idris highlighted that this economic revitalisation of the North is an integral part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for national prosperity.

“Other infrastructural projects which are progressing well under President Tinubu are the Kano-Maradi railway line as well as the Kaduna-Kano line, both of which are a crucial segment of the broader Lagos-Kano modernisation initiative, designed to connect Abuja directly to Kano and eventually link toward Maradi in the Niger Republic.

“We are aware that the Kaduna-Kano line is due for completion in December this year, while some sections of the Kano-Maradi projects, including that of Kano-Daura-Katsina, which is 284 kilometres long, are on track for commissioning in December 2026. The government has already given its word that the final stretch across the Nigerian border to Maradi, Niger Republic, would be completed in 2027.”

The group added that aside from ensuring timely completion of key road projects inherited from the Buhari administration, President Tinubu has continued to press ahead with legacy projects initiated by him for delivery to the people in Northern Nigeria.

“We dare say that the 1,068 kilometre Sokoto-Badagry super highway is, arguably, the single largest project embarked upon by the President Tinubu administration. It was designed as a trans-regional economic corridor linking Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, Oyo and Lagos states, with simultaneous ongoing construction in many of the sections.

“There is also the ongoing reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano dual carriageway with reinforced concrete pavement technology, with a similar arrangement ongoing on the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe road.

“These are part of over 40 million ongoing projects in Northern Nigeria which also extend to critical
healthcare projects with expansions and upgrades at major facilities, including Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, and over 1,000 Primary Health Centres across the North.

“In addition, President Tinubu has approved over N2 trillion for intra-city light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna as part of a broader federal push to modernise public transportation in Northern Nigeria.

“And lest we forget, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) recently announced that it is currently executing projects in excess of N1.5 trillion across the geo-political zone.

“We are convinced that similar projects are going on in the other Commissions in Northern Nigeria, which were all established by the President Tinubu administration,” the statement said.

TMSG urged the North to disregard such misinformation, maintaining that any person or group peddling such misinformation that the Tinubu administration has abandoned the North is not only being dishonest but playing politics of deceit to twist facts and mislead the people.
