Hon. Bukola Soaga Bada, Supervisor for Natural Resources in the Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State, has commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing confidence in the direction of the country’s economic recovery.
Speaking to Flowerbudnews, Soaga Bada said the President inherited a challenging economy, but had taken difficult decisions to address them.
“President Tinubu inherited a challenging economy with serious structural problems accumulated over many years. Rather than postpone those problems again, his administration chose to confront them. Three years on, I believe the President has continued to beat expectations and demonstrate that Nigeria can correct its course when difficult decisions are followed by strategic investments and sound policies,” she said.
She pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) as examples of programmes with direct implications for Nigerians.
“NELFUND is important because a young Nigerian should not have to abandon higher education simply because his or her family cannot immediately afford the cost. CREDICORP is also opening access to credit for working Nigerians. These are policies that are already affecting the lives of Nigerians positively,” she said.
Soaga Bada also cited infrastructure, agriculture and energy as areas in which she sees evidence of the administration’s development agenda.
“The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is another commendable direction that our President has taken. We are also seeing attention to roads, railways, irrigation, mechanisation and energy infrastructure. These investments matter because production cannot grow without the infrastructure that connects farmers, businesses and communities to markets,” she said.
Speaking from her own responsibility for natural resources at the grassroots, she stressed the need to connect economic development with environmental management.
“At the local level, natural-resource management is inseparable from people’s daily lives. Waste, drainage, flooding, land use and the protection of our natural resources all affect the quality of life in our communities. As Nigeria develops, we must ensure that growth does not destroy the resources communities depend on,” she said.
Soaga Bada acknowledged that significant challenges remain but said she was confident about the country’s direction.
“Of course, there is still much work to be done. Nigeria’s problems accumulated over many years cannot disappear overnight. But we have begun addressing some of the fundamental issues, while investing in education, infrastructure, agriculture, enterprise and social development. I am confident in the direction President Tinubu is taking the country, and I believe sustained implementation will make the results increasingly visible,” she said.
She urged Nigerians to use the Independence anniversary to renew their commitment to national development.
“Nigeria has the people, resources and potential to become a much stronger and more prosperous nation. We must keep building, producing and investing in our people. I remain optimistic about Nigeria and confident in its future.”
