Nigeria customs begins preparation for 2026 recruitment training programme

 

 

 

Lagos, Sept. 30, 2026, The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commenced preparations for its 2026 Basic Course Programme with an induction workshop for resource persons and instructors at the Customs Training College, Ikeja.

 

The disclosure was made on Wednesday in Lagos during a workshop aimed at preparing trainers for the upcoming recruitment training and ensuring prospective officers receive effective and comprehensive training.

 

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) in charge of Human Resource Development, Frank Onyeka, stressed the importance of teamwork and collaboration among resource persons.

 

“We are going to work as a team. Nobody has monopoly of knowledge, that is why we have brought people. We are going to do this for the good of the Service, because we need to bring out the best of Customs officers that we are going to be proud of,” he said.

 

He noted that the service was determined to raise officers who would uphold professionalism, discipline and integrity in line with the reform agenda of the Comptroller-General of Customs.

Also speaking, the Retreat Coordinator, Deputy Comptroller-General (Rtd) Greg Itotoh, said preparations for the 2026 Basic Course Programme had reached an advanced stage.

 

“So, as we speak, we have training materials in about 19 subject areas and information that will be required to run the 2026 Basic Course programme. And I think we are all together prepared to face the task ahead of us,” Itotoh said.

 

Earlier in her welcome address, the Commandant of Customs Training College, Ikeja, Deputy Comptroller Precious Itah, described the retreat as the first of its kind.

 

Itah said the workshop was important in setting the tone for the training programme and urged trainers to approach their responsibilities with an open mind.
