The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Ibadan Chapel, has concluded arrangements to host the 4th Tunde Oluwanike Memorial Lecture, a prestigious annual intellectual gathering designed to promote excellence in journalism and deepen discussions on the future of the media profession.
The memorial lecture is scheduled to hold on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Studio One, Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo State, and is expected to attract journalists, media scholars, communication professionals, students, policymakers, and other stakeholders from across the country.
Themed “The Future-Ready Journalist: Harnessing Emerging Technologies for Professional Excellence, Public Trust and Financial Sustainability,” the lecture will explore how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital innovations, are reshaping journalism while reinforcing professional ethics, credibility, and sustainable media practice.
Delivering the keynote lecture is renowned communication scholar and media professional, Dr. Samson Owolabi, of the Department of Mass Communication, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.
Dr. Owolabi is widely respected for his outstanding contributions to journalism education, public relations, media research, and strategic communication. With an impressive academic background and professional credentials, he has continued to distinguish himself as a thought leader whose research and practical insights have influenced media practice, communication scholarship, and professional development. His selection as this year’s guest lecturer underscores his reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading voices on the evolving media landscape and the transformative role of technology in journalism.
