Prof. Enang Udah of the Department of Economics has been re-elected as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Calabar.
In the same vein, Dr. Emelda Barong Edam Agbor from the Department of Library and Information Science emerged as the Sub-Dean, having run unopposed.
The duo’s emergence followed a unanimous vote of confidence during an Extraordinary Board Meeting of the Faculty held at the MPA Hall.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, represented by Prof. Peter Okafor, DVC Research, Linkages, and Collaboration, congratulated the newly elected officials and urged them to foster a collaborative environment and be staff and student-friendly.

Prof. Obi emphasized that the Dean and Sub-Dean would be held responsible for the faculty’s activities and charged faculty members to give their full support, noting the office comes with significant challenges.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Udah pledged to focus on staff welfare in his next two years, having fulfilled his seven-point agenda in the previous term.
He vowed to maintain an open-door policy and work collaboratively to achieve results.
The Sub-Dean expressed gratitude and commitment to fairness and integrity in her new role.
