Ede Muslim Council Introduces Scholarship Scheme for Indigent Madrasah Students

– inaugurates selection committee for Islamic Title holders and Scholarship Awards recipients

Ede (Osun State) FLOWERBUDNEWS: The Ede Muslim Council has unveiled a Scholarship Scheme designed to help indigent children acquire sound islamic education in Madrasahs in Ede land.

FLOWERBUDNEWS reports that the maiden edition of the Scholarship Awards to the Omo Ile-Kewu (Islamic Studies pupils) was held on Thursday with the Chairman of the Muslim Council, Dr Misbaudeen Idris Shekoni explaining that the scheme would be assisting brilliant indigent students.

A FLOWERBUDNEWS Correspondent who covered the event reports that about 50 students from different Arabic Madrasat in Ede were granted N20,000. each to cater for their institution fees and other needs.

Speaking on the gasture, Dr Idris said the token was to alleviate the financial difficulties facing the beneficiaries.

He appreciated those that have contributed in one way or the other towards the presentation of the scholarship and prayed Allah to reward them abundantly.

The event which was held at the Ede Central Mosque, Oja-Timi graced by the large turnout of the people, during which an 11 man committee to oversee the selection of Islamic Title holders and Scholarship Awards recipients in the community was also inaugurated.

During the inauguration, the Chief Imam of Ede land, Sheikh Moshood Hussain Akajewole enjoned the committee to embrace openess, accountability and compassion in their dealings for the glory of Islam in the land.

He told the committee to be steadfast and ready all the time to perform the tasks given to them admirably by using Chapter 48 , Verse 10 of Holy Quran.

Also speaking at the event, the Baba Addeen of Edeland, Alhaj AbdGaniy Lawal advised the members of the committee to see their new assignment as a way of serving Allah which “deserve openess, humility and patience.

The Chairman Ede Muslim Council, Dr Misbaudeen Idris Shekoni urged the committee to justify the conference reposed in them by working diligently to ensure the terms of reference of the committee were realised.

He said that the members of the committee were selected based on their track records and significant roles they were playing in society, especially as it affects Islam.

FLOWERBUDNEWS reports that the committee is headed by Alhaj Taofiq kola Alimi, while other members included: Alh Murtala Yusuff, Alhaj Roofii Inaolaji; Dr Abd Wahab Solaudeen; Mallam Isiaq Awwal and Dr Daud Akindele.

Others are Alhaji Muideen Sadiq, Akeeb Jamiu Abd Razaq Badmus; Ustaz Mutiu Tijani and Hussain Shittu. (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
